PR Week’s report on their recent survey on what’s keeping the communications directors awake at night in the 31st Oct 2008 issue, reveals that online is very much an integral part of the job. Here are some of the online highlights:
% of budget spent on digital PR or marketing?
over 50%; only 7% of respondents
11 - 20%; 38% of respondents - a fifth of budget.
0 - 10%; 31% of respondents
What aspects of digital marketing fall under your remit?
78% said the company website
51% said social media management
32% said SEO
But 13% did say they didn’t have responsibility for online.
What digital innovations were introduce in the past year?
40% said blog monitoring
34% said social media campaigning
31% said posting videos (on YouTube)
Online elements considered specialist as short as a year ago (SM, SEO, video, blogging) now considered to be mainstream and essential.
