Since last week’s announcement of Facebook’s January decline in membership stats, we are hearing, although already knowing, that the membership momentum couldn’t be maintained as mature users don’t have the energy to maintain the online social network as well as everything else.

Everyone in the office jumped on the bandwagon and tried it out, got in touch with old friends, joined causes, and groups, downloaded apps, rated friends, tested movie knowledge, copied others, started something new with various levels of enthusiasm and success and spent oh so much time on line instead of doing something else. We had competitions to see who could top 300 friends first and were pleasantly surprised at how easy this was to do.

The commentary is that facebook is for socialising, but I am surprised at how many browsers are asking for a business solution - haven’t they seen Linkedin?
