Hitwise announce Facebook enters top 10 website for first time in UK

In this months copy of ‘Revolution’ on the news page (pg 8), the very useful stats provided monthly by Hitwise reveal that Facebook has made it into the top ten uk sites! However still behind myspace and bebo. Interestingly, Facebook also scores lower on average time spent on the site from Bebo’s 31 mins 54 seconds to their 18 mins 26 seconds. Searches for the Facebook brand in the UK is fourth highest for the four weeks to Aug 4 07.
We’ve been taking a keen interest in facebook, our own teams addiction, which corporates are using it, the furore over advertising on a group page (especially BNPs) and associated affiliation or lack of, leading to the control over ad positioning in digital marketing with discount and bundled online media packages.
Social media is still hot. But advertisers are wary.
As Alicia Buller, Features Editor of Revolution said in her intro letter (to this month’s Revolution - 0/07) ‘ rely on basic real-life principles - trust, accountability, transparency and fairness.
