Gigabytes are big

At first we had KB (1000 to the power of 1). So a KB is 1000 bytes.
then MB (1000 to the power of 2; e.g: 1000 x 1000) which is 1,000,000 bytes.
and now GB (1000 to the power of 3) is 1 billion bytes.. but even then it depends if you are talking information or computer storage. Let wikipedia shed some light on this.
This is still an enourmous amount of bytes.
