Hitwise’s November newsletter reveals that the UK’s browsers make more visits to social networks (e.g. the likes of Facebook, Bebo and MySpace) than web-based email services (including; Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail and Gmail).
It’s the 18 - 34 year olds that are using the social networks and changing the traffic.

This must be from all the communication functionality incorporated in social networks that is reducing dependence on email services.

Who’d of thought of a world with out email? Could this be possible one day?

The BBC’s Daren Waters blogs about exactly this; people using facebook’s messaging instead of ‘regular’ email to communicate.
